LOL I'M PMSL FUNNY STORY HERE

I was in London last weeks staying with my uncle and co.

I noticed the Internet was very slow, he isnt very computer literate, So i went onto his modem and there was 8/9 Computers connected to his wireless but they only have 1!!

I was like OMG!! So I did a wireless network search out of the 10 modems in range his was the only unsecured one. So cut a long story short a banged a wireless key on. And hey preston only one attached device lol

Today which is about 3 days later my aunty calls me to say some guy has knocked on our door demanding our Wireless Key so he can use our internet!!

I was like the cheek!! People these days lol

I dont know, my mum is still talking to my aunty, my aunty has said that her hubby aint in, so the guy has had the cheek to say i'll come back and ask in half an hour!! He says he only needs it for 1 month.

He has found out because he asked my uncle a while back if he has wireless internet and hes said yes. And he had his name on the router lol

The guy could be downloading illegally, he could be a terrorist or a paedofile and this has helped him be masked lol!!

Also these wifi detectors give signal strenghts too lol

Ok the guy has come back, turns out he is slovakian.

I told my aunty to tell him that a technician has been and done the work and that she doest know, she has told he, he could be a paedo lol,hes tried to convince her that any illegal activity will be traced back to his pc and not my auntys i.p lol.

Anyway at the end she basically told him, "On yer bike" lol

this confuses me... if there were 10 modems in range, then surely all his neighbours already had an internet connection... so why knock asking for the password?

I remember when I moved into my house and had to wait 2 weeks for my phone line and broadband and luckily there was an unsecured one that I could use while I waited.

Handy sometimes to use others wireless networks as a one off, but knocking on someones door and demanding the key is rediculous.

Lol well when we first moved in (we live in a house not a flat) there was 0 wireless in range so ours was open with the neigbours all being close to death lol.

Then one day we were going out we noticed a couple parked at the side with a laptop, I knew straight away what they were doing so I ran in the house and flicked off the modem. They were soon startled, we then approached them (we were going shopping with one of my mums friends). Turned out my mums mate knew the ba**ard who was apparently doing a survey lol.

i run my own computer business and i hve wifi in my shop, when wrking on an older system (e.e windows 98 or ME) i would have to disable my encyrption to allow the system to connect and in doing that i just happened to need sumfin from the car when i noticed that there was a guy sitting outside on his laptop on ebay, so doing what any1 would do i unplugged the router n sure enough he abruptly left.

wouldnt say no to any1 if they asked bt that took the piss

mikey, what you can do is set up an access list that is what we have at my house, when it will just reject pcs that arent on the access list (checks the mac address)
