Just rung them up...

Me: Can I have my mac code please as i'm thinking of changing provider

Pipex 1: Yes can you confirm all security details etc, password on account etc as its not in my name its in my mums

Joel: Gave him all correct information and password

Pipex 1: OK i'll get that sent out to you it will be with you within 5 working days is there any reason your thinking of leaving us?

Joel: Yea bethere.co.uk have offered me 8mb unlimited for 9.99 a month (They havent but f**k them)

Pipex 1: OK well if you want I can give you the number of our retention department and hopefully they can match or better the bethere offer.

Joel: OK then (Takes number etc)

Then rang the 2nd number....

Joel: Hello just spoke to one of your sales guys and requested my mac code as i've been offered a better deal and he told me to ring you first to see if you can match/better the offer to which i told him what it was 9.99 with bethere for 8mb unlimited

Pipex 2: Yes yes sir that shouldnt be a problem, are you the account holder

Joel: No

Pipex 2: Oh can you please confirm name of account holder address and password

Joel: Gave him all the details and password

Pipex 2: OK then although we will be able to match the offer of bethere we can't do it or give out mac codes without speaking to the account holder

Joel: Oh thats funny cause the guy I just spoke to before was happy to send me the mac code

Pipex 2: huh oh muttery sturrery oh uh.. Well be hopes he didnt as he can lose his job, but if you want to ring back when you are with the account holder we are open until 9 o clock

Joel: OK then thanks alot for your help but i've got the guys direct number who i spoke to before so i will just ring him and get my mac code, cheers :rasp:

mac codes are a pain in the arse. i had a NIGHTMARE of an ordeal with BT and SKY. BT refused to give me a new mac code as the one they originally sent was lost in the post so SKY couldnt activate it, SKY told us to tell BT to do something, BT said if they did that it would be illegal, we was just going back n fourth back n fourth for like 8 phone calls.

I'm a bit peed off with Pipex at the min. Paying for 8mb broadband, and have checked on three or four occasions this week, and I'm getting less than 1mb! I actually had quicker connection when I was on 2mb!

Bunch of blagging feckers.

MAC codes take minutes to sort. Through work we use Mistral for out business customers connections and private customers. I can request a MAC code online and have it in my inbox within the 30 mins usually much sooner

They hate me, I've complained loads to them about stuff. Never got so much as an email or letter back. Doubt they'd give a f**k if I threatened to leave!
It's not like I can leave, all the decent providers don't offer service here.

my boss had the same problem going from bt to sky, in the end he gave up as sky were also incompetant so he stayed with bt.
