Lookin to buy a 172 phase 1

Im new here and i am very intrested in getting a 172 phase one sometime soon, ive looked around on the net and have seen one that i really like, just wondering what are the things i should look out for and check if i go and see it???

Theres a nice looking ph1 172 for sale at Holt garage near farndon on outskirts of wrexham. its W reg in iceburg silver. £3995. not sure of mileage but looks superb. also found a mk2 172 at Broughton car sales near Aerospace factory. Its Blue, 02 plate, 16" alloys. £3995. Beautiful looking car. Both on autotrader website. some real nice 172's for sale on there at the moment.

As long as it has full service history and has had its belts done you shouldn't have too many problems. The steering wheels wear out for fun so don't let it put you off if the rest of the car is in mint condition.

yeah ive been looking around, theres a nice black ph1 near me with 77k on the clock!
Might ring about it and arrange a viewing, not too bothered about the belts though as ill change them if i get the car as i can get it all on trade
Also Ive drove a ph2 and the gearbox felt like it was moving slightly?!? is that common?
