Looking to improve MK2 PH1 performance

  clio grande 1.2
Hi, this is my first post, I have a y-reg 1.2 MK2 PH1, and I have done a few exterior mods, to make the car look nicer, but I was wondering what can be done to improve performance on a fairly tight budget?

I have heard mixed reviews on cheap induction kits aid to the bhp , and someone has said about lowering the car to make it better at cornering, sorry if this all sounds very "noobish", any help would be appreciated :)

thanks

In the Politest possible way...

Its not worth it.

A 1.2 is never going to be "Fast".

Chucking an induction kit on a 172 / 182 makes very little difference (Maybe 1bhp) so highly unlikely you will even notice it on your car. If you want abit more engine noise then go for it, but don't expect it to make any difference to your speed.

Likewise with an Exhaust.

Personally if it was me a couple of little subtitle mods, PH2 rear lights and bumper, Silver Vision bulbs front and rear, Set of PH1 Dual optic headlamps, Nice set of wheels, maybe some Colour coding, and lower it Job done.

Then any spare cash you may have stick in the bank for a fast car in the future.

  Lots of Alfas
I used to own a Grande, trust me mate its not worth spending any money on the engine. As mentioned if you really want to, concentrate on removing weight and improve handling with decent tyres and suspension mods. The brakes are already decent enough.

I've added a cheap induction kit to mine just for the noise. The silicone bend puts the filter in a much better place than standard, and definately doesnt slow it down. So if you want it to sound good, then its worth considering.

I did have an exhaust at one point, which sounded lovely, but it got stolen. As said, just some tasteful mods to get it looking nice is the key.

Its something i put together myself buying parts off ebay mate. Where abouts in Luton are you from?? I'm up there on thursday onwards for a few days so I could show you. Overall cost is about £17 and it sounds cracking IMO. (well for a 1.2)
