Lost Notes

Just backed up my phone on iTunes as I always do, maybe clicked something but I've just gone to check my notes and they're all gone!

Nightmare as I had loads of s**t in there!

Any ideas?

Just been into the "mail" settings and it has "notes" ticked there, would it have transported them all to my email?

Yeah that did it, luckily I'd backed up that morning... How can I stop it doing it again?
Is there a tick box somewhere to send notes to my email or something?

It's useful to have a copy but not if it wipes the originals on the phone.

I'm not 100% sure but I think notes sync with iCloud?
