Loud ringing sound from right hand side of car.

Hello, My car has been file when driving around, then i did a long trip over some country roads, after a while i noticed this loud ringing sound, i opened up the passenger window and it was really loud. As i stopped and slowed down it disappeared. Then i would start driving and it would be fine without any sound and now and again it would come back, even when doing 30mph/ish. I've done some town driving today and it's been fine again.

I've got a video i took of the 'sound' on my phone that i'll try and upload in a minute.

Anyone any ideas?

Cheers

I had a ringing sound the other day, turned out the central exhaust mount packed in and the little 8mm bolt that holds the exhaust to it was rattling around when driving and echoing through the exhaust system

wasn't as loud as your video though but its a start :)

Ahh, now you maybe onto something, my exhaust mounts are failed by the looks of it so it maybe that. Cheers

no problem, get someone to hold it a different revs throughout the range while you pop your head underneath for a look

Nice one cheers, i'll get at it this weekend. Although i do think it could be that as sometimes when setting off 'incorrectly' i can hear a little rattling and with the exhaust is hanging low. I'll check out if they're easy enough to change myself too, save me some money ! :)

2 bolts mate, a 13mm to get the hanger off, and an 8mm to get the rubber mount to slide off the support
the annoying thing with rattles and noises is a process of elimination :(
