well if its the old clio u can av the back sittin on the floor as its a torsion bar but the front the lowest springs i know is 80mm which is fcukin low!

torsion easy enough, Rustys was down about 120mm, raised it up but its still about 80mm down on standard.

As for the front just chop the springs.

ok well i dont really wana cut the springs cos i know that you totally mess up the handling(i know i said i didnt care bout handling, but i dont wana totally fcuk it up!) my clio is a mk1 phase 3 with da curvy headlamps! its only 1200cc but that why i wannit looking sweet cos it aint ever gonna go fast! any manufacturers, part numbers, and pf course prices will be cool!

why would it mess up the handling? Funny cos renault did just that chop the springs springs for the clios or somethign for the track. Neil knows more.

Maybe I just dont havbe any knowledge of chassis dynamics and just imagine the gains from chopped springs etc etc

I knew a lad who had an old Escort. He chopped the springs to make it lower but totally messed up the handling. It bounced all over the place. It was like sitting in a biscuit tin with wheels. Very uncomfortable! DO NOT CHOP THE SPRINGS!!! It is quite dangerous.

its neither illegal or dangerous.

It is if your a r****d, but anyone with an ounce of commn sense will not chop thet much out of a spring its runign ont he bump stops.

Bet a tenner most of you are running about with snapped springs, the renault springs always lose the last 4 inches of the coil.

Is it dangerous? Have you died? No, its only dangerous i fit slips off the seat but you can re-seat it.

My Saab has a snapped spring, missing a coil, best thing that ever happened to the handling. Well no, it was brilliant when it slipped of the seat (part of the reason i got it cheap) and it was on the bumpstop. Could pull some serious Gs round corners.

If youre going to lower a car its best to buy a suspension kit rather than be a cheap ass and cut the springs! Its worth spending the money as you will definately see the benefits in the long run. Chopping springs is something Id expect from the Nova crew!
