so do you have h&r?

fk will go lower but its too low - handling will be compromised badly - ok if you just want to look good but I like my car to drive well as well - 50mm is about as much as I would ever go

  Turbos.
The FKs go lower, and they do the adjustable versions so ride can be up there with the H&Rs if you wish.

FK's are ok, cheap and cheerful, if you want a quality ride then go for H&R

Bilsteins are identical to the H&R but with slightly firmer spring and damper rates good for track

sorry - I disagree - the Fk's from my experience are no where near the H&R's.
After trying the H&R's I would probably go for the bilsteins next time -H&R's could do with being slightly firmer imo

So you have tried the fully adjustable FKs (i.e not the highsports)?

TBH i don't see the point in getting H&Rs when you can get the FKs for a similar price.

airbags...just dont drive round corners with em on.
Had my H&Rs about 3 months now and i love em...
Dont worry about how low you can go...youll just rip off the splitter..Im getting old

I have had both Fk konigsports adjustables and now H&R non adjustable and would never go back. The Fk's work but no where near as well as the H&R.
Why would you go for the FK's out of the 2 when as you said they are the same price roughly - H&R are a specialist suspension manufacturer - FK are a sales company selling lights, bodykits, suspension and all other sorts of stuff - I know which I would/do prefer!
The H&R improve all sorts of things - the ride when hitting big potholes is much improved over standrad where as with the FK's at some points actually made my arse lift off the seat - not good!
In my opinion get the H&R's or face regretting it later!

Iain/Tim you're wasting your time I think. Obviously it's a case of looks over handling so we may as well let him get on with it.

We've given him the advice so if he fits them and a few months down the line and doesnt get on with them then he cant come crying to us about it.

FK use Koni dampers, so you can't really say H&R are better by default. I have a feeling the H&Rs feel better because of the spring rate, not the dampers. I can't believe the FKs on full soft would be worse than the H&Rs...

Ali, i agree, coilovers are pretty much pointless. You are just making everything happen at higher speed, you're just taking the fun out of the car if you spend most of your time on the road. A standard Clio 172/182 is a very good handling car and i would argue perfect for british roads. So basically i would only get coilovers for looks, which i have done ;)

FK's are tesco value

H&R/Bilstein are Fortum & Mason

H&R are monotube robbie me boy, for anything other than "looking cool" they're a bit parp, sorry (and you know i've got FK's on one of my clios!)

if I had the choice again ali I would have gone for the same as you - would have saved a load of money - buy the time I had the tracking camber etc sorted on 2 different sets of coilovers plus paying for them etc I must have spent about £2000 on them - its good now but not worth £2000 - oh well you live and learn! unfortunately it was an expensive way to learn.
