LY200 late 2009 price and chassis?

  Clio
I've seen a LY 200 with Recaro's and all the usual extras. Now I've been told it has a cup chassis and having been for a test drive its stiff but I've not driven a non cup chassis 200 so have no comparison. So the two questions are:

1: How much would you pay assuming it has the cup chassis and less than 4k on the clock, and...

2: Is there a way of telling by looking at the chassis or VIN plate if it does indeed have the cup chassis?

Question 2 is possibly harder to answer.

if its used the cup chassis wouldnt make a difference to the price.

VIN wouldnt tell you either that i know of.

has it got red calipers?

  Clio
The first time I saw it around the town I was convinced it did have red callipers. Since then having looked at it and driven it I noticed it had silver callipers, which stood out to me because I remembered it having red ones. As for the wheels it has got the 17 inch 5 spoke renaultsport wheels.

The Cup chassis is more of an I want one with the Cup chassis, and if it turns out not to have one then I’ve a bargaining tool!
Was thinking at the time that the callipers did look painted (dodgy style) so maybe they thought the red was a bit too much. Should have looked at them closer.

Wheels are silver.

defo non cup chassis then

ive heard that the standard chassis is alot stiffer than the standard chassis of the 197, but if your looking to track it you'd be better looking for one with a cup chassis imo

  Clio
Not really looking to track day it as a hobby just maybe once or twice to get the feel for the car and its limits. You're right by the way, I had the brain wave of looking up the Renaultsport website and....
Cup Chassis
- 17" 5-spoke 'Renaultsport' wheels in anthracite
- Ride height lowered by 7mm
- Stiffer springs - 27% at the front and 30% at the rear
- Stiffer dampers - by 45%
- Red Brembo brake calipers

So that’s a bit of a disappointment.

Ok so given its coming up to a year old and 4K without cup chassis what would be a reasonable price?

  LY R26
not sure tbh, not working in the trade anymore so couldnt tell you a accurate price.

what are they after for it?

is it a 09 or 59?

  Clio
Hang on, so does changing the springs and dampers to "CUP" versions make it a CUP chassis? As in there are no changes to the metal chassis design?

Not forgetting to paint the callipers with £5 worth of Halfords red calliper paint...

It's in Northern Ireland bud so we don't do the 09 59 thing. Log book says aug 09

think about how much it would cost you to get them from renault though, and for the price difference in buying one with and one without wouldnt really make much point in buying a non cup chassis and putting cup chassis parts onto it, if you get what i mean?

  Clio
Yeah, get you. I wasn't going to bother buying them, more wondering if that's the only difference. Springs, dampers, red paint and anthracite wheels.

So offer £14500??

Another Renaultsport find....

"The only parts that have been specifically designed for New Clio Cup are the struts, the shock absorbers, the springs and the bracket connecting the lower arm, the pivot and the pivot holder."

So there you go.

Standard 200 has been made softer than the standard 197, cupped 200 has been made stiffer than the cupped 197. So there will probably be a fair bit of difference in the handling.
