Hi All, Need Some Help/advice Re My Daughters M Reg 1.8, When Cold It Wants To Keep Stalling,will Intermittantly Not Maintain Tickover.
Ant Ideas?
She Called Aa Man,and Got A Contractor With A Pickup Truck,who Started Talking About The Stepper Motor Needing Cleaning?
Would Appreciate Someone To Fix Fault,witout Her Needing A Second Mortgage To Pay For It.
She's Looking To Sell This Car,and Needs To Remedy Problems.

Cheack the earths, particularly the one behind the s**t guard to the gear box, n/s.

Also take off and clean the ISCV, wiht brake or carb cleaner, this is the cylinder on the top of the enigne, about 2" long wiht one wire and plug going to it by the TB.

Never even heard of a stepper motor :S

Try PMing Has off here his old man is a mechanic, lives my J10 of the M25, Very good and won't rip you off

what does the iscv do?
like you i've never heard the term 'stepper motor'
how do i get a contact number for guy with dad who is mechanic?

ISCV is the Idle Speed Control Valve

When you rev the engine do the revs drop down to about 500 and then pick up again,a nd same as when you dip the clutch donw pulling up to a junbction? Thoses are classic signs of the ISCV needing a clean.

With teh earth to the gearbox it did a similar thing, but also the lights dimmed slightly when you put the blower on, and got slightly brighter when the car was revved

I think the car is still new enough for an estimated value.

I paid £1k for mine about 18 months ago, 103k, FSH, lowered, apart from that std.

Would have said around £1-£1.5k depending on condition etc.

Breaking an Rsi atm over by the M4 area if you need any parts
