Mac Os upgrade

My mid 2014 Pro probably needs an update on the OS.

I downloaded the installer/update at work.
Now I'm at home trying to install and it's stuck on this screen for ages.

Is this the actual download, which is 15gb, or is it the actual install?

Only reason I ask is I haven't got Fibre at home but have at work. And it's been stuck on this screen for ages and nothing is moving. Wasn't sure if it's actually doing anything.

Honestly, i wouldn't bother putting the latest OS on older machines, it'll just slow your computer down.

I've been into Macs since 1998 when i purchased a G3 Bondi-Blue iMac desktop (still have them all boxed up at home).

Just upgrade a couple of OS at a time, then buy a new machine and put the original OS back on.

Here's our Mac graveyard at work. All perfectly good working machines, but so slow due to OS upgrades they're useless.
