As above.

How much do you pay a month. I'm with BT at the moment, i can't fault the service, but i'm paying £35 a month just for the internet, and was wondering how much you guys pay.

Because a lot of the cheaper internet service providers don't have internet packages that are suitable for Mac's.

Come again!?! How do you work that one out?

should be no reason why cheaper service providers cant support mac. Either your computer connects to the modem via a netowrk connection, or via a USB connection, if USB then you should be able download 3rd party drivers if you need to, or if via a network connection it should just work like it would on a windows machine.

All I found was some of the packages say Windows 98 etc only because the free modems dont always work with the Mac, but a decent router gets round that.

is that because they use USB modems? Surely a modem that connects via a netowrk conenction rather than USB should work perfectly well on any operating system? I know I got my telewest connection running on an old acorn with network card in minutes

Seems that way for me with the Speedtouch USB modem supplied I had everytime the OS updated say 10.3 to 10.4 etc the drivers no longer worked and it took ages before they updated new drivers on the Speedtouch site.

Now I am running a Netgear Router all 3 Macs have no problems at all no the free USB modem is junked.

ahh see the USB modem thing makes sense. Was thinking if it was just a networked modem theres no reson it shouldnt work, as you have found out by using a router

Use a Router and it isnt an Issue.

I use Zen for Internet not that it makes any difference.
