Macro - ing....

First go at this i know model cars are probably not brilliant for it due to there size.....

Looking for some pointers.

Cool. what lens are you using?

Maybe reduce the aperture a bit to get more of the car in focus

just a canon 350D + a sigma 70-300mm. set in macro mode and manual focus.

although it has a macro mode, its not actually a macro lens, bit of a clever marketing statement really so I have been reading.

Not sure what makes a macro lens other than the minimum distance to focus but i've been looking into macro myself and even though one of my lens's has macro on it i'm lead to believe that this isn't really macro.

All depends on the magnification, 'true' macro is 1:1, which essentially means the size of the object on the sensor is the same size as the object being photographed. Unless you buy a specialist macro lens you are very unlikely to have that.

You are right though, most lens use the term Macro for anything 1:4 or bigger, lens like the Sigma 70-300 allow you to focus pretty close though (1:2 if I remember correctly)
