Magnex problems.

Ive got my magnex fitted, though it keeps hitting the rear axle. My local mechanic who I really rate, says that this is because of the lowering (-40mm) it appears impossible to stop this from happening as the gap is narrower. Has anyone got any suggestions of how to cure this, i was thinknig of cushioning it, but not sure what with , due to the high temps that the exhaust reaches. Was thinking maybe some pipe insulation put on the the rear axle.

Has anyone got a 172 lowered 40mm with 16s and got no rubbing or hitting the axle???

Also thought Id mention that the magnex has not solved the unsolvable(so renault say at moment) 4k rattle.:(

Cheers for any advice

Adam

yeah just jack it up and bend hangers, not sure on the 172 but my pipe banging on the 16v was alledgedly unsolvable, same problem as you, and i just bent the hangers til it worked. also found that the backbox knocked on the tow hook so i wrapped a bit of inner tube round it, problem solved.

Get some rally X plus mounts, they are alot stiffer than the originals..do a search and youll see where to go for them as I ve forgotten the name of the place, apprx £15 delivered if you buy 3. I had the same problem for months with my Magnex on my valver lowered 35mm, in the end my local garage manged to move the back box over to the left and secure it with cable ties....excellent now! Magnex say they alot for up to 40 mm without it catching so really the place that fitted it should be able to rectify this for you.

Having said that the garage that fitted mine couldnt fix it and netiher could my nearest Magnex dealer....they were crap!
