Mail - hotmail synchronisation on macbook

How does this work? Can i get them to sync, like exchange on the iPhone. So it deletes them from the hotmail server. Annoying if i read on the iPhone then come home to find they're still unread on the mac and so forth.

I never managed to get Hotmail working with Mail. So opened a Gmail account.

If I ever need to get on my Hotmail, I just use a web browser.

I hear iCloud is free and works with Apple devices.

Seriously though, switch away from Hotmail.
