I've seen a blue ph1, and a blue ph2 both going round the track to parking

Both unbelievable clean, anyone on here at the event today?

It was really busy, didn't expect such a good turn out! I was with the red and yellow nova, probably saw me hopping about on my crutches. I was really impressed with the mk2 escort next to us, not at all shocked when he told me it cost him 85k in bits to build though. Your car looked immaculate boomer!

Saw your nova there mate, made me miss some of my old ones, as Ive only got a mid engined one left and while its a good bit of fun its not quite the same as driving a "proper" one.

Looked brilliant :)

The nova isn't mine, it's my mates. He asked me to navigate this year but unfortunately a thug of a bouncer decided to break my leg lol! Both of your cars looked really clean! I was surprised with the amount of people looking around the nova considering there was a lot of higher end rally cars there. I was thinking of doing a build thread didn't know it anyone would appreciate it considering it's not a clio though?

I'd guess the number of people on here who would be interested is probably relatively low, but I personally would be.

I'd say if its a decent build thread with lots of shiny bits, everyone should be interested regardless of car itself :)

I would be.

But I think *most* people seem to only be interested in things that relate to their car.

Same with magazines TBH, people will always pay more attention to the one that focuses on a car like their own, so he would probably get more interest on a nova website.

I'll probably start one when the engine starts going back together, only got 17 days until the first rally at Weston park. Engine needs building and a custom loom to do yet for the throttle bodies! Could be tight

The car was being run completely standard with a gripper diff and snapped shafts every time it went out! c20xe shafts seem to be doing the job for now though.
It's all well and good extracting loads of power, if you can get it past the gearbox:race:

If he is on XE shafts then I really hope he isnt on the dangerous machined hubs people use when doing it on the cheap!

I'm not 100% on what hubs he's using to be honest, i think they're off another vauxhall of some sort.

It's not in my best interest to pay attention to things like that so i keep the fire full of coal and make a cup of tea until the topic of conversation changes

They will HAVE to be off an XE vauxhall or they wouldnt fit the shafts.

There are two options to fit:
the bodge way is to machine the hub to take nova bearings, they then break
the correct way is to machine the hub carrier to accept audi bearings, and then only slightly machine the hub to fit that

Most people do the first way cause its cheap, but its also rubbish!

Ive tried both, and broke plenty of hubs done the first way, so will now only do audi bearing route!

Ask him which he has done, if its the first one, I can link you to an article I wrote for total vauxhall magazine about doing it properly (there is an online version on a forum too)

Just spoken to him and they are off a cavalier machined to take Audi bearings. Apparently he only told me about 3 weeks ago about the set up, but that just shows how much attention I pay!
