Manchester, The Surroundings and Beneath - Pictures

On Saturday Myself and a few friends went to explore the Picturesque area of Greenfield near Oldham, lovely Manchester & not so lovely Stockport.

These are some of my pictures:

First we started at Stockport and it's Dodge Hill air raid shelter, virtually untouched since WWII...

Secondly we headed out to the Lovely village of Greenfield where there was an old Paper Mill which used to make cigarette papers until it closed in 2001.

Then we moved back, right slap in the middle of Manchester to visit the Cathedral Steps/Victoria Arches.

They served as business premises, landing stages for Steam Packet riverboats, and also as World War II air-raid shelters. They were accessed from wooden staircases which descended from Victoria Street

Havn't touched it in months, it's the winter, therefore freezing! Spring is upon us and it'll be getting plenty of TLC.

I would try some urbexing if you have somewhere in mind?

Where the hell is that paper mill? Is it the one just before Dovestones Reservoir? I am literally 5 minutes away from Greenfield.

How do you find these places? just wander into old buildings?


I used to spend hours on 28 days later, that place is/was amazing.

Of course, it would be rude not to. Best roads in the area and some great views.

Good man. I went up last night (for some gay strange reason I enjoy sitting up there in the fog having a cig and a wander around) Can't see anything when driving up if it's even the slightest bit foggy before you start to get there.

Oh yea I know, I went up to Leeds to see a friend last night so drove up Ripponden rd way to the M62 and that was the same.

You know the bridge that takes the train over oxford road, usually find him under there, sometimes in a bin, sometimes not. :clown:

Cheers for the comments, There is a network of explorers and we just meet up and they show us the access points (in return for us showing them some stuff around our area). The google map link is the paper mill.
