Mark on Paintwork.

My old man has caught his sill on the recycling bin and now has a black plastic mark on the car.

Does anyone have any tips on how to remove this? Will a clay bar remove it or what is the best way?

thanks,

A clay bar may remove it - well a grey bar anyway. I was working on a Jag a couple of weeks ago that had come into contact with a red car and the clay took the red paint off in no time.

Alternatively a polish preferably by machine and with a decent polish - e.g. not T Cut - as this may remove the mark but mess the paint up too!

Cheers,

I'll have a go tonight and see what I can do. I'm just a bit worried about damaging the paint.

^ AG SRP isn't really abrasive at all, its more of a finishing polish and doesn't really have any cutting properties.

And seriously T Cut is rubbish - a car I did last week had been mullered by a car trying to remove a mark with it and looked like he had used sandpaper on it. There are much better abrasive polishes available that break down and therefore don't leave the paint looking so rough.

I would try an abrasive polish like autoglym super resin first.

Perhaps i didn't explain myself well enough, but from my understanding he is only looking to remove a black rubber mark.

In my experience SRP should be perfect for this.

SRP is abrasive i thought, i appreciate its no where near as abrasive as menz ip 3.02 for example.

Always start with mildest first, the combination of chemical cleaners and mild cut of the AG SRP may sort it. In reality something like Megauirs Scratch X is more likely to be needed. T Cut is shite and yes will remove it will adding marring of it's own into the equation.
