Marongoni or Direzza DZ03G or Dmack?????

Anybody have opinions of the tyres.
These will be for dry use only as they are going on a second set of wheels, as I have Federals RSR for getting to the track and if it is wet.

The Dunlops are about £450 for four but the Marongonis semi slick are about £330 for four and the Dmacks are about £360
The main issue is Marongoni went bust and once this stock has gone there will be no more left but I could buy six for not much more than the Dunlops and have two new ones to replace the fronts when they wear out.

Cheers Tony

I know you use the Dunlops what sort of life could I expect out of them (it would be medium compound as I am having 195/50/15) for just trackdays?
Also have you used Marongonis before and is there much in it between the Dunlops and them?

I have some brand new R888 195/50-R15 in Medium compound for £400

The Dunlops are very good though. I even used them on the road and on a damp track.

I seen the 888's when they were about £70 per corner about a month ago, I was tempted but wanted a better tyre as it will just be for dry use and the reviews I have read the Dunlops are a lot better.

What are the Dunlops like on a damp track then? is it just a case of keeping the heat in them?

The Dunlop are better in the dry yes. If that's what your after then don't bother with anything else or just get full slicks.

They need to be warmed up, they'll try and kill you if not, on the road they aren't so bad as the tarmac isn't as smooth as on track. The R888 are better in that respect.

I have Federal's for when it is wet and road (the car only gets driven to and from the track on the road), this set will only be used on dry days so getting heat into them should not be a problem.

Dunlops are the best, but a said, they need to be warm or watch out! If they are warm and it drizzles, they are not too bad, but if it rains, again, watch out!

Marongoni's I could take or leave to be honest, felt strange (compared to Dunlops), but then the BMW compact cup cars run them, so can't be that bad.

Dmacks have had some compound issues, and you don't always get what you expect, this is being sorted, but then again, they are not a pure dry tarmac tyre.

Example of Dunlops in the wet from a dry track to chucking it down. Watch from about 13mins, when it just start to drizzle.

I ran H1, they needed a couple of good laps to warm up. Once they were warm they stuck like shot to a blanket and didn't wear much at all.

I see what you mean about when it is wet.
Being only for trackdays I would probably come in and change tyres before it got too bad.
What compound was that you was using in the video?

I think we were running the 195's at the time, so medium compound. When it first started to get damp, they weren't too bad because they were still warm, but one half of the circuit was dry, and the other half wet, and it just got worse.

The guy in front,, Russ in the MG (red car) was on 888's, I thought I could have him, but ended up driving on ice.
