MBP & VLC Issue

Picked up a MBP about a week ago and have just got round to getting some of my Videos sorted out onto it, when ever i play an AVI file through VLC the there are Red/Green/Blue squares all over the dark areas of the screen yet on the PC they play fine anyone know why this is and if i can easily sort it ?

Try MPlayerX in the mac app store.

what version are you running, i am running 1.1.12 on a new MBP with no issues

Well i just tried it again there and for some strage reason it no longer happens :/ slightly confused but oh well it sorted....for now
