I been playing, taking pictures of my cat pepper, with settings and the flash - 450d
1st 5 was taken on p, with the flash

these 3 was taken on 3, with high iso 800-1600 with out the flash

just playing to see what happens

I always find that the eyes of an animal really make a shot.

I am impressed with the lack of severe noise at 1600 iso in the last couple of shots though. I would try and take more without the flash, and possibly alter the white balance either in PP or in camera as they have a nicer feel to them.

To get the most out of your camera, have a play with the other settings. P/ Auto is only selling yourself short in the long run.

Try flash with a small peice of single ply tissue over the Flash bulb, will take the edge off the burn...also set your metering to flash. Can help alot...
