Metal plates in brake pad box??

Had some genuine renault pads to change the front brakes and there are some metel plates in the box.......What and how do these fit the brakes??

Don´t seems too be any plates in now so what are they for??

I have greenstuff pads fitted to my shed. They came with a 'rubber' shim kit. Not sure how a metal shim kit would work. I am actually looking at upgrades.

dont know if these stop squeeking, but i would still put a bit of copper grease on them.
