I've used autosol and autoglyms metal polish in the past , both do the job as well as each other . For the tailpipes , especially if they've gone black use 00 guage wire wool or a buffing wheel fitted in a drill . I've used both , both work well .

Side by side comparison, across four exhausts (one car) I found Mercury to be the best as it appears to have more bite, chemically. As with most detailing products, it's down to user preference and experience, but that's my two penny's worth.

I need a quick fix now as its getting fitted on thursday so no detailing shops are going to be able to get anything to me in time to get it cleaned up. Im going to nip to halfords and get some Autosol and then order some mercury up to keep on top of the shine.

Dont suppose you have pics?

I don't, but as description to help you understand - Autosol left some hard to remove grime and carbon deposits. Mercury removed these, but had to use 00 Grade wire wool with both. Testing on my own car (two pipes) Mercury removes the grime in less "passes" with a MF than it takes Autosol, again, leading to the conclusion from my experiences that Mercury has more chemical bite than Autosol.
