millage to fill up with petrol... flashing dashes and not reading anything.....

hi, i have a 172 cup 2004 53plate. On the trip computer everything is working except where it shows you how many miles you have left in the petrol tank... its just flashing dashes. can anyone help or had the same problem? thanks james

Is your petrol light on?
Or have you recently re set your computer.

Either of these will make this happen.

Clean the sender connections up under the rear bench. Bet the gauge is still reading fine yes?

nah mate nearly full tank haha.....
also havent reset the computer as i didnt want to make things worse,

Could try pressing the little black bit sticking out the gauges to reset it then drive and see if it comes back.

faulty clocks, i believe u will need to get a new set.

Nagh its not a faulty clockset but there will have been an issue with the fuel level sender so the clockset will need reseting. Press and hold the button on the wiper stalk then turn the key until all the lights come on. The clockset will go crazy and start flicking the needles up and down... this is the guage test mode.

Now press the wiper stalk button and you'll no doubt see an error code such as _ t _ _

When here press the trip reset button and then turn the key off and on again. You should notice that the "Distance till empty" is no longer flashing at you but is showing a steady _ _ _ _. Take it for a drive and after 1 mile the gauge will start to work out the distance remaining for you.
