Mintex 1144's are good pads, as are Ferodo DS2500

steer clear of EBS Greenstuff mate - they're gash!

not had a problem with my ebc
really??

they produced monumental brake fade in my mates old 172. a few firm presses of the brake pedal and they just gave up

quickly got shot of them soon after and went for DS2500 - much improved

I've only ever run green stuff (Rover 220 Turbo) and Yellowstuff (M3 Evo) and tbh I was disappointed with both. Greens fell apart after about 6k and the yellows just never seem to bite properly.

I have had DS2500's on my old cup and they were immense. Awesome stopping power and never faded.

Ive just got some of the yellowstuffs for a good price. Much better when cold than the reds and very good once hot. The problem with EBC is they have changed there compunds but not the product names so hence why there are so many mixed opinions on them.

the 2 products are so far apart there's no comparison. Mintex each and every time.

exactly if your comparing the standard mintex ones on like ebay then ebc. but 1144 then mintex is usually better than green, red and yellow. usually pagid blue and ds2500 are the best but expensive.

I use EBC Yellowstuff in my M Coupe (previously used DS2500 - awful) and they're great pads, no fade and little dust. Also in my 205GTi on track (previously used DS3000 - superb bite was diffiuclt to modulate locking, and brake dust was toxic) and prefer the Yellows. Work from cold, better when hot, almost zero dust, cheap - almost faultless IMO. Bite isn't as good as it could be but it means they're easier to modulate.

Mintex make nice pads, the 1144 are fast road and will fade on track - 1155 are better bet light trackdays or 1166 just for track. The Extreme seem to be an inbetween and is a good pad too.

Pagid are the best pads you'll get (but you pay for them).

Ferodo DS2500 are completely overated dusty, smeary nonsense IME.

^^ I had DS2500s on my last car and I hated the amount of dust they produced plus they scared me a few times when they were cold.

I had the greenstuffs on the clio for the last year and I thought they were fine. Yes they do fade after some hard abuse but its gradual fade nothing dangerous. IMO they are fine for everyday use.

I got the yellowstuffs as i'm starting to do trackdays so I wanted something a little better with high temps. They have been fine so far and can be had quite cheep if you search around.

I ran EBC Red on my 182 for about 6 months and wasn't impressed with them at all. gone back to Carbon Lorraines and forgot just how awesome these pads are. Cost a bit more than the £65 you budgeted but if you can stretch to these then well worth a look. Never tried the Ds2500 but people have only good things to say about them on here.
