Misfire?

Right I know this is done to death but Im not sure what the most likely cause is.

So my car started to seem a bit rough today it doesnt idle too bad but when I drive anything more than a tiny bit of throttle sends it into crazy jerky mode.

I thought I would leave it for a while so went home and parked it up but just now I went to see how it started and it started first time but running rough still left it idle for a min and the exhaust started banging so I'm guessing unburnt fuel in the exhaust so what's the most likely cause for this? First thing I think of is spark plugs.

ive had similar problem, turned out to be the main earth from the gearbox had broke. played havok with the electrics. ment to be quite common tho!

Okay will make sure that gets looked at although electrics seem fine.

Anyone know the best places for coilpack and leads Im guessing the local motor factors will stock a decent part? Don't really want cheap knock off's.

Oh and it seems to pull okay above 4k maybe not as good as it should but its stops jerking and hesitating.

Changing the plugs tomorrow I hope its as simple as just them lol.

Might be worth cleaning out the throttle body too?

yeah want to get the plenum off for a clean anyway so will give it all a good go over.

mine was kangarooing when cold and ran a bit rough. Turned out 1 HT lead was buggered. You got any fault codes?

Decided to wait till the weekend now and i'll change ht leads coilpack and plugs at same time im sure there due the end of there life now anyway.

Main thing I would like to know is can it damage it driving it untill then? only a few miles to work and back a day.

Don't wanna be getting the missus up at half 5 just to pick me up.

I was about to post same thread! My car is doing the same and seems to stop over 4k revs but only does it when engine is cold changing all my leads and plugs tomo hope fully fixes it!

Shouldnt damage the car driving it. Probs just get somr unburnt fuel smells!

just dont use cheap parts. Use genuine. Speak to Tom@Wests to order parts.

Will a local motor factors not have them? Will get prices from tom need them by sat though.

Tom does next day genuine parts. Gives discount to members too. Factors will supply cheap aftermarket parts. If your going to keep your car I wouldnt recommend after market.

Fitted a coilpack leads and plugs today and its running much better now for anyone that gets the same issue.
