Well this weekend I drove all the way down to Bath from Glasgow to deliver the clio to my mate who has bought the car off me. Must say i will miss the car. I really enjoyed the drive down and also blasting around baths roads. My mate seems really happy with the car and that in turn makes me happy. At least the car didnt go to some max power fan who would ruin the exclusive. Of note is that it is my mates first ever car, I hope he doesnt wrap it. He got a really good insurance deal, elephant gave him £680, he is just 25 with no no-claims and also has 3 points for speeding.
Im now driving around in a very nice and fast Impreza RB5, I know its not that popular car on here but I dont care. It sounds fabulous and goes like stink. A totally different drive to the 172 with much more accessable power, but I must say the clio doesnt feel that much slower. I ran both cars for two weeks so had a good chance to compare. Biggest difference - fuel economy. The RB5 just sups it up, so far I reckon 22mpg whereas the clio told me I was getting 33mpg in the city. Hitting the wallet hard but I expected it.
Good luck to all those selling mk1 172s, I never got a single call from autotrader onlookers. The only calls I did get were from folks seeing the for sale sign on the car. They all thought it was a 1.2 or something and expected half what i wanted for it. Sold it in the end for a bargain £5750. That still makes me feel sick.
