mk-1 valver hybrid question...

I have just finished fitting all the 172 running gear to my valver and it has left me with mental camber. My Shocks/hubs don't allow for camber adjustment, so what do I do??

Cheers.

Just ride it how it is, im sure in Bristol there are far worse sheds around tbqfh

:)

its because they are valver coilovers...

williams shocks/coilovers are different, due to them being made for williams widetrack

the exact same happens if you run valver shocks on williams widetrack

you now have 172 widetrack that is even wider than williams widetrack, with valver shocks, so you have EVEN MORE camber

ideally you need williams shocks of some sort (standard or coilovers) to get around it properly.

Ok cool. Thought as much. Will williams stuff fit on my newly machined 172 hubs? What are you running Jordan?

Not till its finished. About 2 weeks hopefully. Getting wired up this weekend :D

yes should fit perfectly fine.

im running williams coilovers (fks) with 172 AST solid top mounts.

I had the holes for the bolts on the coilover made 1mm larger (0.5mm off all the way round), to accomodate 172 hub bolts and nuts...

Wiring, are you keeping the valver loom inside etc and merging the 172 loom to it from the engine bay, or going fully 172 looms?

I bought the adapted loom from Beaniemoo's white valver mate. So valver car loom mated to 172 engine loom. Oh, and his unlocked ECU. Plug and play he reckons!!

Why did you fit the bigger hub bolts mate? Is that needed? I don't really have time to get stuff machined again! lol.

cool.

i fitted bigger bolts as the 172 hubs take bolts that are 1mm larger than williams/valver ones, fatter so to speak...plus stronger

I didnt want the bolts 'moving round' in the holes once they had been bolted through.

Depending on what coilover choice (or standard williams), its only a 2 minute job to get the holes made larger!

Hmmmm. Just had a look and KW's are around £500.

Will they fit straight in? The fronts and backs? No bigeer holes required?? lol!

Got Gaz atm and i'm less than impressed with their rebound quality! lol.

well.....what hub bolts are you using at the moment, the valver ones?

did you put the valver ones through the hub to check size? they should be 1mm to small, not a spot on fit, so the hub has got room to move technically

thats the only reason i used 172 bolts really, as they are spot on fit to the 172 hubs....then made the holes larger on the shock to fit the 172 bolts...sorted. whiteley did the same too.

Ahh! Right i'm with you now.

Ok, so it needs to be done then. I'll get the f**king thing running first then do that.

Any recomendations on coils?

The 172 i'm driving has KW's and i'm REALLY impressed with them. The Gaz on mine are s**t and i'm fucked if i'm paying over £700 for H&R's!

well I went for FK as they were ok on my old car, and not a bad price, plus i was making the holes bigger so didnt want to be modifying 700quid coilovers etc

They have been spot on to be honest, well good enough for me at the moment. Done about 10k or so and had no issues, and about 2k with the AST top mounts on which made them alot better....

Where's the cheapest youve found the KW's Dan? The V2's are they, adjustable ones?

What parts are you running 172 and what stayed valver in the end?

My hubs got -4mm grinder treatment and shock holes got +1mm pillar drill treatment.

Know its not coilovers but could you use standard 172/williams shocks with pro's for now. If no possibly some second hand ast's?
