Mk1 ph1 Central locking

Ok i saw on here a couple of days ago that someone was having trouble with there central locking only working if and when it wants to and some times not at all and was talking about changing the whole circuit board and key fob, i read they had a water leak and i also had this and my central locking was playing up. So i had a butchers i took out the circuit board and it was badly corroded so i took a soft copper wire brush and gently cleaned all the corrosion away.

Replaced the circuit board into the wiring loom and tryed it, now i can unlock my car from about 3-4 meters away just like new, rarther than trying to do it when the fob is pressed up against the window in frustration

Seriously? I struggle with it against the window aimed directly at the reciever. I'll have to give this a go... and maybe replace my key battery, cheers.

Yep i sure can, not from the front though i dont think renault technology was that good back then, but yeah its something to do with the roof leak fault they all have!!!

Just take it easy on the circuit board m8 nothing to hastey!

This thread kinda makes me happy i had to put my own central locking in my mk1 . it works for about 20+ meters. i can lock/unlock car from. my nextdoor neibours front room

yeah, are we talking bout the circuitboard behind the light unit or the chipboard that sits closer to the sunroof? noticed the other day the wire connectors have a wire running between each other, does anyone know if the infrared unit routes through the light unit circuitboard?
