Mk1 rattling sunroof

When i have ahd my sunroof open, it will rattle for about 3 or 4 days after doing so, then seems to shut up.

any ideas for a quick fix? as will be wanting the roof open with the hopefully warm weather approaching

cheers

I had this problem on mine and solved it by removing the roller blind thingies and the mechanism for them. Over the years the plastic fitting jobbies had broken and it was not all clipping in properly. Try driving along with s/r closed and blinds open. If it starts to rattle just put your hand on the blinds and see if it stops.

Problem is, now I have no blinds on my sunroof. Some days Im just not sure if life is worth living.:(

Me & My dad have the same problem on our Mk2s, but have taken back to dealer, both have been fixed, but they started rattling again

Dont need to remove the roof lining, just need to carefully pull it down enough to get the spanner in.

what did you have to remove to do this and how hard was the job? bit skeptical about removing glass as worried about ending up with heaking sunroof after refitting

No need to remove the glass, you can reach under the glass, its a bit easier with the sunroof open but dont have to take it out.

The blind assembly was just held in place by some plastic clips that had little bits snapped off making the metal housing for the blinds rattle against something. Sounds more complicated then it is. Get a torch and get stuck in!
