Mk1 RSi indictor/alarm issue!!

  Mk1 Clio RSi
Please help
I have just bought a mk1 RSi but when im NOT driving the car and its parked up
(off and locked etc), the hazzard lights just turn themselves on and flash for a few minutes, as soon as I push the unlock/alarm button on the key they turn off
Am I right in thinking the haz lights need to be cut/removed from the alarm box?
If so how do I do this? where is it etc?
please help as it seems to be draining my battery and I'm having to get a jump start every morning and after work! :(

I've just noticed also that its not a consistent flashing, its more like
flash-flash--pause--flash-flash--pause--flash-flash etc

sounds like short somwhere , check all your fuses , if you have the immobiliser with the central locking then check the central locking seensor , the sunroofs always leek into these and basicall they fry , it could be shorting at 1 of the resistor at the front. To get this off prise the cover off with a screww driver be careful, then the whole unit will ddrop out , if it still has the front cover on it covering the sensor unclip it and inspect the electronics.
If you need a new 1 its #42 for a new one but you may have to pay to get your key programmed to.
make sure your battery and worst case alternator are sound if your unsure get someone at a garage to check the voltage output with a meter.
let me know how you get on as i have had massive wiring problems with the clio , basically had to remove the immobiliser and rewire the full car from the loom to the engine.

Having the alarm off seems to stop the hazard light problem, but the battery is still draining :S
I've put the multi-meter on it and its reading 13V when OFF! and around 13.5 when running. The car was stood for quite some time before I bought it, possibly just a case of the battery being knackered?
