Mobile Phone Question...

  UR R26R.5, VW Golf R
I am currently on a Pay as you Go contract. O2 Genie SIM card which I've had for a few years now. 300 text messages/WAP minutes a month free as long as you top up £10 to activate them again at the end of each month. I exceed that to be honest, and spend around £20 - £30 topping up every month.

I have an unlocked SE W900i and really fancy a change. I'd prefer to stay with SE but wouldnt mind a Nokia (N95) as I'm a bit of a gadget and function nut; Prefer mobiles with loads of stuff to do and memory, good camera, MP3 etc.

Would it be worth getting a contract? If so, could you guys recommend a good place to get one, with more text messages/WAP minutes the merrier, as thats what I tend to use the most. Dont want to pay excessive fees, like over £30 a month, but all depends on whats on offer I suppose.

Oh and any ideas for a good mobile, too? I know the w900i is a great phone, but I'm a bit bored of it now after nearly 2 years (well, since it came out anyway)...

Cheers :)

I got my nokia N95 with orange, £35 a month i get 600 xnet anytime mins and unlimited texts. its not that bad.

the plan is called dolphin 35. you can add gprs bundles and stuff on after, not sure theres many that include them in the plan

It would have to be O2, also. Dont know why, just prefer them and would like to keep my number. Unlimited texts sounds good. There's some places you can get a PS3 too, but the monthly rates are a bit steep.

The N95 seems impressive, any downsides to it?

Bit of brand loyalty lol.

none so far for me, its alot quicker than my N80, still a little sluggish at times but nothing much. great phone, the camera is good enough and the video is brilliant on it

Good good. O2 offer a free N95 and 600 texts a month for £30p/m on an 18 month contract. I just thought other places would offer better deals.

I tend to find going directly to the providers gets the better deals. the ones that offer the free gifts tend to be expensive for what your getting and hook you in with a gift.

although have you thought about trying this place?

Orange, not sure if they're still doing it but:

Pretty much any phone free (I got an Orange PDA with built in GPS and 3G camera)

800 minutes xnet minutes.
The choice of unlimited texts/landline minutes/orange mobile minutes (I chose landline minutes and get 100 texts)
£15 off Orange broadband (this is the bit I'm not sure if they still do).

I think that's an 18 monther tbh, with a 12 month you get 600 minutes etc but no unlimited texts/landline/orange mobile as that requires a £35 contract.

P.S. I also got £100 credit (usually put toward first few bills however I found out Orange don't do the 4 texts=1 mms thing that O2 do the hard way:eek:)

I've just read that the N95 has a few bugs and problems, so might just go for another SE.

I'm assuming your not a new orange customer and that was renewing your contract with them ? I can't see any dolphin 35 plan with a free nokia 95 , 600 mins and unlimited texts

yeah that was an upgrade but the plan is available for 35 a month, not sure how much the N95 is on that plan though

The orange dolphin is a great deal and if you go to phones 4 u then the guys ten to bend over backwards and for me they offered to take off 10£ a month (MAKING IT ONLY 25 A MONTH) and then re negotiate that 10 months time to hopefully get an even better deal. Well this is what i got offered anyways, hope that helps.

P.s the new samsung g600 is pretty sweet but there are some new pretty damn good looking phones coming out in october!

Had the n95 for a few months now.. brill phone.. havent noticed any bugs (got latest firmware)

Battery life is the only let down.. charge every night really unless it just sits on standby.. 3 days tops..

yeah i have to agree the battery is poor but i dont find it that much of an issue as i can pop it on charge each night usually
