more UCH Questions

  '92 172, Lotus Elise
got a few more questions about the UCH and the engine loom/ECU etc...

I'm putting a 172 engine in to a mk1, so do not have the UCH etc. I have a decoded ECU which should allow me to just plug it in to the engine loom and fire it up.

question is, if I have a loom with the UCH connector on, can I still run the engine? or do some things (injectors or throttle position sensor) run from the sensor to the ECU, but via the UCH?

hope that makes sense?

can I just connect the engine loom to the engine and connect the ecu, the wire in the starter, ignition live and fuel pump and expect it to fire up?

yeah, but if you have a dash loom with the uch connecter sod all in the interior of the car will work as pretty much everything runs through it

and, sometimes decoded ecus will still need the uch or an emulator to run so in that respect no you would need the lot

the interior loom is going to be standard mk1 stuff

as for 'pretty much everything', does that include sensors on the engine loom?

no im talking interior functions indicators lights etc etc but if you are wiring that up with mk1 stuff then no problem
but it may be worth speaking to danlp as i know when he did his he had the choice of using some sort of emulator with the ecu or just plugging the uch in and hiding it behind the dash

tried getting hold of him? bloody nightmare :/

he's meant to be stopping round today with my engine, but once again has gone MIA

iirc, he has wired his UCH etc up, to get the engine loom to work, but I'm getting conflicting info from different sides
