MOT Failure??

I've got to get my 1st MOT done within the next couple of weeks. But i've got a problem with the SERV light, the ESP and sometimes the ABS light. This has been happening ever since i had my brake pads changed about 5 months ago. The car went to Ren Tech for its 36K service in December and when i left the lights were no longer on. But literally the next time i started the car the same lights came on. Whats the likely problem???
So will the lights cause an MOT failure, if so do i have to take it to Renault to fix or can an independent do it??

Any help suggestions much appreciated.

Brake switch/sensor.

It's a common problem get it booked in with Renault so they can plug it in, to see exactly.

It's covered under warranty.

Cheers Dan, didn't want tobut i've booked it in with Renault. Its still in warranty as you say so they'll sort out the sensor light free then MOT it.

Fred - Yeah i doubted it would fail either but didn't want to book it in at an indi and have it fail.

I'd bet one of your ABS sensor ring is damaged or the one by the handbrake is damaged.

My first mot was yesterday. I've got the passenger seat out so the serv light and airbag light is lit. It passed fine. Yours will be ok mate.

abs light IS an mot fail, make sure its not on/visible when you get it tested
airbag light is not testable.

Seems to be some difference of opinion. Just hope Renault fix it and do the MOT the same day!

Just updating this. Pi$$ed off.

Car went in to Renault for them to fix the sensor problem, which they said they did and then MOT it. It passed the MOT, but when i picked it up the same 3 lights came on again, SERV, ESP and ABS when staring the car. Then later on the same 3 lights came on constantly. The light washer jets also came back leacking and its gonna be out of warranty by the end of this month.
Renault are really starting to pi$$ me off.
