No MOT means no insurance. Driving without insurance is an offence (the exception is if you're traveling to get an MOT).
You can park, but obviously if someone hits your car (unlikely I know) then you will not be covered for damages.

Having no tax certificate on a vehicle that's classed as "on the road" is illegal full stop.
It's the owners responsibility to make sure they have an MOT certificate in time for the tax renewal, if this isn't possible then you should declare it as "off the road".

The car wont be driving anywhere as the bottem end is non existant ... oops!
Currently it sits outside my house preventing the annoying next door neighbour parking his van there as he does'nt want it outside his own house! The car is insured and taxed still did end of May, but the Mot runs out on the 24th.

Well most people have an MOT that ends a month or so before the TAX does, meaning if there is a problem, they have time to sort it out before having to declare it off the road (you have to get it towed to an MOT garage then).
If you let your MOT run out, and the car isn't on the road or being driven, there is no problem.

I'd leave it be - you can't tell just by looking that it's out of MOT, and if you ever get pulled for it (which I doubt) they usually are reasonable and will let you off if you get one as soon as you could, having 'misplaced' the last one *

I have to question the judgement of anyone that condones driving a vehicle that's not road worthy.
It's people that drive cars that can't pass MOTs on the road, and without insurance, that cause the people that abide by these rules to pay the price (higher insurance and stress levels)

I'm not suggesting driving it - I'm talking about a car parked at the end of his drive/garden that doesn't move
and ultimately an MOT only means that a car has been assessed as passing a set criteria at one particular point in time - you could drive away and fit a decat in the half hour after and make it "un-roadworthy" and I'm sure a lot of people do!
Not only that but I bet there's a lot of numpty drivers who have no idea that their shocks are shot to bits, or their tyres are bald and underinflated, or that they have a bulb out - I would say that as 'enthusiasts' we have more of an idea of what's an acceptable deviation from the official MOT definition of roadworthy! lol
Either way, you should definitely be insured! When I was working downstairs on collecting debt, some woman in a porsche spun off and hit a bridge, causing over £20k of damage - the insurance didn't cover her as her tyres were below the limit (so in effect she was driving without insurance) so she was going to have to pay for it herself! :S
