MOT rising to £50.35 next wendesday

Just got my clio mot,d and was chatting to the blokes

found out the mot is going up next week

from £44.15 to £50.35

My garrage took 23 mins 20 seconds

they are good and i know vat is included

I think it varies depending on where you go as I normally pay about £35

My garage is charging me £44 on Monday.

They say it's half fee ie £22 if it fails and leaves the premises before a retest.

Is this the norm or does this sound like just my garage trying it on?

Yes it is going up, on the 7th, but most garages will not charge full price, ours are £35, half a full is chargeable if the vehicle leaves and is returned in 10 days, in some cases a free retest is offered! says on your VT30 (fail sheet)

23 mins ummm i thought there was a set time according to the tester in work if you take 45 mins your ok anything quicker and they look in to it.

If my car wa M.O.T'd in 23 minutes id be seriously worried that it wasnt done right.

Then again, maybe id be seriously happy he hadnt checked it all and issued a certificate:S

I pay £30 staff rates at work, but we'll be charging the full cost to customers.

Ive just sent my stuff off to VOSA to become an MOT tester Cant wait, 1.3 hours is the correct MOT time, which the tester gets paid at his hourly rate, and 50% of ours at work come in for a service at the same, so you get 1.7 hours for that, and you basically do an MOT inspection anyway! The only difference is emissions, and brake tester! Bonus here i come!!

Ruddy nora 1.3 hours thats big difference i will call them about it tommorow.
It was late friday as i had to do it after work and i think they wanted to get home!



They all charge full rate down here.

mine was done in about 30 or so mins and charged me 40quids. then again if its the first mot for the car, they know its gonna be pretty sound so only really need to check the wear and tear components.

if they give you a certificate then who cares
