mot time

  corsa ecoflex
my mot is due next month and i know its gonna fail,as im on a bit of a budget i need a few things done but not sure on the prices and what to do....im gonna need new brake pads, front tyres but most importantly i think the front shocks are shot as they squeak badly over the slightest bump..so do i get an aftermarket set of shocks and springs or go to renault..what is the cheaperst, also who does the cheaperst tyres online..i only have £500 to do all the work and get it through the mot.

New shocks are £100

Front pads up to £100?
Still £300 left for tyres!

if its just to get it through an MOT then get some part worn tires (can be picked up for about 20 quid each) get a set of brake pads from euro car parts or the likes really cheap and change them yourself.. unsure about the shock tho matey.. but wouldn't go to renault as they'll charge the earth..

thing with the shocks though is that not only they squeak but i get a clicking noise when i take a left hand corner so somethings not right...also how easy is it to fit brake pads,do i need any special tools/fluids..does anyone know the part numbers for the pads

discs and pads are simple to change - recently did mine (and had more problems getting the wheels off as someone had air-gunned them on! ) Sorry cant remember the part number though

good buy would be going to halfrauds/ebay and buying a Haynes manual......come in very handy!

Clicking noise sounds like a cv joint more than the shocks mate. Unless the shockers really pissing out i dont fail them, although the options i have are 'serious fluid leak' and 'slight misting of oil' lol, surely there should be a middle bit?

If your just trying to get it through its test, then the pad wear limit is 1.5mm so anymore and its passed, and the tyre have to be pretty much bald to fail too, aslong as no cuts or cord showing
