Motherboard Q. If started Cpu's are i7/i5, will it support i3

As title, probably a retarded question. if a motherboard states in the specs that the supported CPU's are i7 and i5, will it support i3, obv with it being the same socket 1156......

Check the manufacturer's website? It may support it with a BIOS update?
