Moving folder to multiple folders

  2004 1.2 Dynamique
I have 1 folder, called medical. A copy of this folder needs to go in every pupils profile. It has special permissions, so it cant inherit, which means it cant be copied into each pupils profile as copying forces it to inherit permissions.

The only choices I can see are to copy the folder and then alter the permissions or im going to have to create a folder in every pupil profile! The other choice is to let the admin team do it as and when they need it but that means relying on them to set up the ntfs permissions – not a good idea.

Help please.

yup

Its not for me its for a colleague!

I reckon the best way is either by doing a script or maybe doing a backup of the folder and doing a restore to all the pupils home directories via veritas but would he have to do it one by one hmmm

Do you mean you have special permissions on that folder? You want to copy it to each folder and NOT inherit the special permissions, i.e you just want it with base permissions or basic read/write?

If so just make a copy of said folder, take off inherit and apply the correct permissions you require, then copy that folder to each folder and then inherit the correct permissions from Said new folder

Whats this folder going to be used for? If the pupils aren't editing the data in there and only use it for reference there are easier more controllable methods . LINKD, mapped drive.
