mpg problem

hi guys

i seem to get a crap MPG when driving normal speeds usally about 24mpg but when i start to open her up a little it goes up does somthing sound a little wrong here?? lol

any ideas would be nice

im averageing at around 22 mpg, the best i have ever had was 29 and that didnt last long, i think it all depends on your foot mate, im normally around 20mpg, cant seem to keep my foot of the pedal lol

you have to bung it in 6th as much as possible to stand any chance of getting over 26 - mines about 28 on average.

24 mpg ?? blimey, that's not good. I get just shy of that & that's with some 'sprinted' ahem driving.

197's have a reputation of poor mpg, the megane sports get better mpg, i'm not sure why they are so poor compared to 1*2's its the same engine isnt it? but obviiusly in a higher state of tune.
