Multiband radio/Scanner

Im thinking of buying a multiband radio/scanner but dont know much about them. Is there anyone here who is clued up on them?
What make, type etc etc. I am thinking of spending around £100. Is this enough?

I used to run about with a Yaesu VR-500 when I was about 12 lol!

Stopped using them when the Police moved to digital though.

Cant you pick up police etc now then? Its mainly for aircraft i want it for anyway.

Nope Police are on secure airwaves now.

Fire brigade moved off it about 2 years ago as well.
