My Audi TTRS

  TTRS & V50
So, when I went and put my last new car thread up (here - https://www.cliosport.net/threads/my-r32.805997/), I mentioned about looking for a TTRS at the time. I've wanted one for a while, well, I ended going travelling for a while and returned 2 weeks ago, got onto the hunt (was looking while away too). I had a specific spec in mind which didn't help finding an already rare car. I went to view around 5 in my first weekend back in the country, all were not to be, I scoured every possible lead on the internet and basically ruled all out, so it was a case of settings up alerts and waiting every day for new ones listed.

Luckily one just 15 miles away came up, phoned him up and viewed it the same night. Came away, priced up a few things and made and offer. It wasn't the perfect spec I was looking for, but the condition and history was very good, which beats all the previous 5 that I viewed, and they had as close to the spec I wanted. Anyway, he declined my offer which was fair enough as it was 24 hours after he put it up for sale. A week later I followed up to see if he's had much interest and he basically agreed to my price because of time wasters, so I went for a second viewing and drove it home that night, this was Wednesday.

Had a good drive in it this weekend and I'm really happy, super straight, super quick and yeah, it's cool.

What was the issue? Basically, I comprised on colour, mileage, alloys and seats. Everything else is fully specced with S-Tronic GB which is good. Luckily all my comprises can be retrofitted bar mileage (50k) and the colour ain't that bad, I just had my heart set on Suzuka grey, but wasn't willing to wait months to find it considering the weather we are having, and my second car, MK1 TT 225 isn't up to scratch for my summer planned road trips. The mileage also is still low, but I wanted around 30k. The cars I did view with that mileage were in worse condition than this, so allowed the mileage stipulation to slip too.

Here's a couple of photos from today at Early Edition and down a local industrial estate after:

Plans:
Find some titanium rota's, which are the same as what I have, but a slightly darker colour. Find some Recaro Wingbacks, as I had them in my S3 and R32 and love them. Possibly put it on springs or coilovers. Sadly I missed out on the Bilstein deals a few weeks ago, so might just put it on springs, not sure. I was going to get a remap too, but I really don't know how people have that much power on our roads, they're kind of too fast to enjoy.

I’ve already removed the TTOC stickers from rear windows and ordered a cargo boot net.

Lovely looking car. The colour is great in the sun .

What websites allow you to set up alerts for cars btw ?

Erm, if you're a savvy developer you can scrape the 4 main websites and collate into a daily list, although against terms... Alternatively you can setup email alerts on AT, eBay, PH and Gumtree. Then I manually check the forums depending on the car you're looking for.

Sod grey that looks great. The only thing I'm not keen on is the wheels, but I find Audi generally have horrible wheels so they are as expected.

Love it!

A mate has one of these with a couple of exhaust mods and it sounds savage.

Thanks. Yeah I think it needs some to be honest, mine has the optional sports exhausts and it's pretty quiet to be honest.

Thanks. That's interesting, I think Audi have the best OEM alloys. These aren't worst RS alloys atleast, I think the 20's above are.

There is nothing wrong with that at all.
Good luck with it.

Thanks.

My mate had a few things done to his. Great car. Lovely spec.

Looks standard apart from the front plate. Glad I didn't get those alloys, I bet they ride awful, 20's are way too big. Great colour though, assuming it's Suzuka.

I know two people with RS Audi's and they both have offset plates. What's the fascination with it lol

This is lovely! Not a big fan of the five spokes though.

Is the RS interior any different to a normal TTS?

I've always liked these, apparently it's possible to dial out a lot of the understeer with some choice suspension bits:

https://www.msskits.com/audi-full-and-standard-kit.html

I've seen these kits before. £750 for some springs though... Think I'd rather pay a bit more and get some coilovers.

I think it makes them look rubbish. Same on that tuned up Golf the other day.

Yeah, looks crap. Just a modification for modification sake. If we were in parts of the US with no front plate then fair enough, we're not though.

Doubt it, never is between sports and sportier ranges on any vehicle.

Does have a different steering wheel (thicker, perforated and badge), then just the usual different badges on seats, gear stick and dials as far as I am aware.

Fair comment ref the pricing, I guess the question is whether you want to keep the mag ride dampers or not. If you've not got them then coilovers with adjustable damping would seem like better value.

Very nice mate.

Theres a few RS3/TTRS’ running 500bhp+ near me, the engines are solid and take some power.

They did ride awful! He had loads of sets! He had 4 dampers under warranty also.

So is it now lowered?

Yep, will do a write up of what's happened in my ownership with some more photos when I get time.

Now on Bilstien Coilovers.

I do like these, a lot.

Really are good cars, there's nothing comparable in the same price bracket in my opinion and I really don't know what I can swap it out for. GT4 is only 4X the price. Lol.

Check out @audi_tt_rs_project on Instagram, might give you some ideas

Ha, ideas on how to bankrupt myself.

Amazing car, would love to own one just for that 5 cylinder howl. Looking forward to reading your update.
