My First Clio

Hi all,

I have just bought a Cyclone Blue 2003 53plate Clio 1.6 16v Dynamique with 27k on the clock, which i am collecting on wed/thurs of next week.

Have ordered a new JVC headunit to replace the factory standard and to allow me to play my mp3s, also a shorter beesting aerial.

I want to do some subtle changes to it and am definately fitting an induction kit and considering an RSI grille.

Am also looking at some alloy wheels. It comes with 15" alloys as i am sure you all know, will 17s fit without problems or should i just go for 16s? Which alloys would look best? I am terrible at visualition of the finished article.

Was also looking for a stealth exhaust as i don't like the whole "exhaust sticking out of the back" look. Any recommendations?

Also any other subtle mods that arent gonna break the bank?

Hiya Geordie. It's nice to hear you have bought a 1.6. I'd stick to 16" alloys , that's what I have on mine. As for which ones to buy that's rather difficult to say as we all have very different tastes in alloys. Try looking here, it will give you some idea of styles.

I'm going for a Longlife stainless steel stealth exhaust, but I am sure there are bound to be others who can tell you which ones are considered good and where to get them from.

Are you going to lower it?

was thinking about lowering it, but if i do it will only be by 30-35mm as i prefer the changes to be as subtle as possible.

Put 15s on it and lower it 60mm it will look wel smart and then i think the twin round exhausts luk rly nice on the clios n ther subtle n ther nt that loud until u put ur fut down. You could also tint windows.

If I do lower it is it ok just to buy some springs or should i go for a full kit?

Any one got any experience of these and how they afect the engine performance/sound?

Thanks for the advice so far, think I am just gonna go for a backbox for the exhaust as I don't want to improve performance, just looking for a more sporty noise. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a stealth backbox from anywhere?

Woke up this morning and got a phone call saying my car was ready to collect! Within 30 mins I was at the garage paying the balance.

So happy with it! Was initially shocked by how much better than the 1.2 Corsa i have been driving it is, had some idea ffrom the test drive but obviously driving it home gave me more opportunity to see how it performed.

Right, time for some subtle modification to begin. Have binned the idea of an induction kit, instead I am gonna have a go at modifying the airbox internals to give me a bit of sound. Can someone confirm that the airbox is the rectangular(ish) object to the right of the engine as you look at it?
