Is that why CAD designers and such still use the good quality Trinitron screens over the TFT?

Its blatently not made by dell, if you know that much about the crts then you dont know much lol

Yes I know that the tube etc isnt made by Dell themselves. I have no idea exactly who makes it as I have no interest in knowing.

But that isnt exactly a Top end CRT like CAD designers use.

Was only a comment anyway no need to get your panties in a twist lad

lol just make the point that they better than tfts

Was the X800 in the 6800 class? Its so long ago I cant remember :D

JOKE. Only just changing from a 6800Ultra based setup myself. Nah seriously though that doesnt seem like a very balanced setup, unless it's not for games of course. Crossfire should sort that out though as you hinted at

iv built the system with upgrade in mind. Its a good mobo and processor and I cant afford the good graphics cards so will buy the £400s worth when I can.

I dont know about being in the 6800 class, I know it runs most current games on high settings.

Yeah I was only kidding, the X800 class was lording it up around the same time the Nvidia 6800s were about. They owned Nvidia in Half-Life2 but Nvidia owned the X800 in Doom 3. Ahhh the memories :D

Good lad - I can't see any point swapping my 19" Iiyama CRT just yet. Fantastic resolution support and it's run everything crystal clear for the past 4 years. Sure, its a big, heavy b*****d and when it does eventually die, I'll get a TFT instead. But for now - CRT all the way. TFT at work - CRT at home.

lol, I know...I envy you with the Iiyama, I think there the best CRTs. I running at 1600 1200 at the mo at an amazing resolution, and I cant go down from this resolution, so if I was to get a TFT it would have to be a 20" just to be able to get the 1600 1200, but then I would lose out on the refresh rates. TFTs are so exspensive, when if you have the room for it you can get a good CRT for 1/3 of the price.

Two points. Firstly dont worry about refresh rates as LCD doesnt respond in the same way. You wont get any flicker at all with an LCD no matter what the refresh rate. Secondly, native resolution is everything with a LCD TFT - anything less than native will appear blurry, so you might weant to reconsdier that X800 if you intend to run serious games at 1600x1200.

Reading that back it sonds a bit confrontational but it's just fellow advice really :)

Bingo. Step out of that native resolution and things start to look turdy. CRTs are still so much better for that.

However, the big plus-point for TFTs (aside from the obvious space saving) is they create far less eye-strain than CRTs.
