My RB182 project thread

  Land Rover
I bought my RB182 in May 2018 and am starting this project thread to detail all the work l do to the car.

Today l replaced the faulty/rusted horns with an almost pristine used set obtained on Ebay for a tenner.

Only one of the old horns (pictured below) was working and the connection had broken off.

While spraying wax into the rear panels l noticed that the sound insulation was missing from the driver’s side.
An Ebay search turned up a pair for £9 including postage.
It was the only item that came up in a search for “Clio 182 sound proofing” l couldn’t believe my luck.

Lower suspension arm replacement

Not for the faint hearted. Ball joint fought me all the way, even after removing the seized-in clamp bolt, ARB mounting bracket didn’t want to go back in, and the rear bolts (extremely tight) have no access to get a breaker bar on.

Hats off for tackling the lower arm change on the drive, but please tell me you didn’t do it with the car on that jack?

No there’s axle stands underneath, and wheel chocks on the rear wheels.

Although l was never under the car so had it fallen l wouldn’t have been injured.

One of my customers was crushed to death under his Porsche when he went under it supported by a trolley jack that collapsed.
