my ruined car

  rsturbo and a xr3i

yes i paid them cause they wouldnt give me the car back and they had had it 3 months and i needed it back they said they were gonna put it right they even put it in writing this was 3 weeks ago my husband down to see if it was ready because 2 days before on the phone he said it was all done when my hubby got there the car was left down the back alley kids around it . it had no locking wheel nuts on 2 of the wheels, no alarm on and no weather strips on the front doors and there were no body there so he pinched it back good job really or else someone else might of taken it he wont talk to us keeps putting the phone down and hes got loads of parts of it and hes got the keys to it

  rsturbo and a xr3i

oh and any ideas of how to get the locking wheel nuts that are on the other 2 wheels off the car would be great cause he has also got the keys to them

You can order a new key for the nuts if you know the manufacturer of the locking nuts. Next rememdy would be to either use a "Gator Grip" (adapteble socket) or bash a socket onto the nut face with a hammer.

Thats shocking Mandy! How would these guys have liked it if this car had been theirs? What the heck have they been doing to it to damage your wheels? Can you not show the car to someone from Trading Standards because surely it should have been taken care of whilst on their premises? Do you have any close-up pictures of it before they ruined it?

Would your dad not have a word with them about putting the wrong things right?

I hope something gets sorted soon.:(

he really doesnt give a sh*t at what he has done like i said earlier it was dumped down a alley to be honest i think he was probebly hoping it would get pinched i have got pics of the wheels when i bought them with me kids stood there holding them lol .i bought it of a bloke who im quite friendly with who owns a garage he said if i need anything putting in writing about what the car was like before he will do that ive only had in 10 months and he moted it a week before it went to the bodyshop

OMG!. Tell them that u are taking this futher and going to ring Trading Standards OR Small Claims Court or both. This is an OUTRAGEOUS . How can anybody get away with this. Also tell them that you are going to your local newspaper about the shoddy workmanship and service that you got with pics and all!!.. If you have also got pics of before the car went in take them!.

THATS THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL LEARN. YOU CAN NEVER LET ANY COMPANY S**T ON YOU.....

Hope u get it sorted :)...

Thats terrible, if you have pics of it before they did there work then I am sure Trading Standards would like to see it.

Maybe then you could sue them for compensation if they dont sort it out for you.

Just a question...where these people recomended by friends?? or did you just get there number outa the book???

Simon.

Ring Trading Standards and the local newspaper that is disgusting im amazed they are still in one peice at this stage.

i would also demand they pay for you to go to another bodyshop and have all this put right along with them also paying for a full valet afterwards.

Hope you get it sorted soon

I would ring Trading Standards and see what can be done.

Its of no use to you now, but I would never go to somewhere unless I have been told by my own mates and seen the work they have done myself or at least read masses of reviews of there work first.

Simon.

Mandy, you have such a lot of support from the guys here, and it is probably best that you take this complaint further, before others suffer from the bodyshops incompetence!

This might help:

"THE BLOKE THAT DID IT WAS CALLED ANDY HUNTER.. "

Dont you watch EastEnders? I wouldnt take my car to him... ;)

The kit doesnt fit that great anyway.. its not designed for your phase of Clio - the Terminator/Demon was designed for a Phase3 ideally.. and even on mine (phase3) it took a lot of work getting it right.

Rubber stops, theyd be cheap enough to buy or goto a scrappy..

[Edited by Daz on 08 August 2004 at 4:50pm]

Just to add, a full respray needs the car to be gutted.. no interior, no seals, just a shell.. if you take your interior out, itll be original unless they have - remove any seals, and itll be the original colour etc.. this is why a full respray is often very expensive (£1/2k) - the labour on it is massive - I know when I stripped mine for just the rear arches to be sprayed.. it wasnt a 5 minute job.. )

im going to see a soliciter about it .ive put threads up on loads of car forums and on the main one which he was recommended on but i were talking to a lad at another bodyshop yesterday and he said going to a soliciter probebly wont do anything cause he will declare himself bankcrupt the minute he gets the soliciters letter but i can only try he was speaking from experience aswell

id torch his garage if u cant get anything done legally he sounds a right w**ker sorry 4 your bad experience luv hope you get him sorted

  rsturbo and a xr3i

right rang the soliciter this morning its gonna cost £90 an hour it could run on for ages so its gonna cost me ££££ to take him to court .trading standards under normal circumstances he could be done ive done that before with a double glazing company and got my money back . but you have to give them 10 days to put it right and its got to be down in writing i honestly dont want my car back there he has done enough damage to it if i did take it back i think he will do more damage to it

Small Claims court?

I think that you are well within your rights to write this person a letter (keeping a copy) and tell him that he has 14 days in which to put your car back to the same condition it was in when you took it to him, and tell him that if after 14 days it hasnt been done, that you will instruct another (competent) body shop to make good the work he did badly, and will send him the bill.

Yep! Cheers for the message BTW!

Yeah but if the car got smashed up at least you could claim on your insurance. Got protected no claims?;)

I really think you should take this to court though to make him think twice about doing it again. That is not what you payed for!

  rsturbo and a xr3i
