Nathan H ph1 build

  Ph1 172
well after a few years out of the renault scene im back again. some of you may remember me from the early days of cs when i had my cup. back then my focus was mainly on having a well sorted b road car and not a track toy although it did do 2 track days.

in 2007 i sold the clio and bought the r26 new.

a year on the running costs were killing me and with a little one on the way it was time to grow up and get a family car. skip forward to the start of this year and i bought a 2000 ph1 172 with slight front end damage. while repairing it another ph1 172 come up locally with a cambelt tensionair that had failed.

So my plans changed, i decided to break the first ph1 to fund the second one. After the breaker had gone i had room in the garge for the build to start. First week me and Brian stripped the inside of sellable parts and removed the wheels as 15s would not be required. Then on thursday i picked up a new set of 16s which i think are speedline but am not 100% sure. So now the car could be rolled out the garage to have the old engine removed. these are the pics before work got under way.

normally i would have dropped the engine out the bottom but with the weather being crap yesterday and starting at 1pm i decided to take it out the top so the car could be pushed back in the garage after.

So the plan/ spec for the car is to beable to use it every day and also do at least 3 track days in it next year.
the engine for now with be completely standard with a 182 manifold mated to decat/link pipe and pro speed 2 1/2 inch system. The reason for the 16inch alloys is they will need to go over a 308mm brembo 4 pot kit. susepnsion will be h & r coilovers with k-tec solid top mounts and polly bushed front end. inside there will be 2 kevlar seats with harness.
My main aim is to strip as much weight as possible to get a sub 1000kg total. to do this im removing all the aircon including the compressor and evaporator. all the interior except dash, all sound deadening and any other non assential parts.

sorry if its a bit long winded but this is the first project thread ive done lol. im open to all sugestions on the alloys as im not liking the white and silver but want something thats going to standout.
