Need a spare key coded...

  Clio dCi65 Dynamique
Had just one key given to us when we got the car, have managed to get hold of a secondhand blip, case, & have had a blade cut to match mine, this gives me greater piece of mind if I should accidently lock my keys in the car, I can use this to manually open the door... :approve:

Ideally I want to get this coded so it will work as a normal key to remotely unlock the doors, work in the ignition etc...

Renault have said the plip chips themselves are coded for life, & I will need to buy a brand new one (£100ish) & then pay an hours labour to get it coded(£43ish)

Is this fact or fiction? Anyone got a new key done recently?

There is a method that is something to do with pressing and hold central locking button whilst key is in ingnition etc.(cant find it though)
But I'm pretty sure once key has been coded its done for life. You may get it to remote unlock but not start.

Been told not to try the key in the ignition as the immobiliser may have a collosal sense-of-humour-failure and lock out... Urban legend or not I'm not in a hurry to find out, lol
