Need help with Alpine 9855R!

Car  Audi TT 225
Ok it arrived yesterday when I was at work so haven't been able to fit it until this morning (on night shift this week),
Thought I had the bugger set up correctly but stupidly pushed it into the slot without testing it actually worked .
Ofcourse when I came to switch it on nothing happened and now I can't get the bloody thing out to see what I've done!

So my questions are:

1) How the hell do I release it?
2) Why wont it turn on :rasp:. I did leave off a cable which had a small square yellow connector on it as I couldnt see anywhere for it to plug into the HU so pressumed it was for the stalk and I would need an adaptor to get it to fit..

Ok, I have the same headunit !!

Although i Didnt have this problem... To Release it, you have to slowly pop off the fascia surround, which is fiddly, but will come off with a good tug...

Then there are two clips, this is wat is holding in the Headunit, to the cage. You have to wedge these out just pushing them down should easily do it...

Then it will slide out :)

The yellow wire i think is part of your live feed, it must connect to part of the car's standard wires, to get a stalk adapter you have to take the dash off to reach in to get the wires because Renault left them by the Windscreen...

PM Me if u need anymore help, i do atm though regarding my sub + amp... Wont play through Headunit :(

If you purchase the incartec adaptors you dont have to take the dash off at all. Just plugs straight into the standard renault ones (the yellow block one as well)
As for it not working, a wire has probably fallen out as you were pushing the unit back in. I had this with the radio connection on mine.

Cheers for the help both of you.
Did anyone else have problem pushing the HU in? I found there wasn't enough room behind the slot for all those wires that came with the new HU. Maybe it's because I gave it a good push that a wire has become disconnected :p
Also what is that silver metal box for? DC/DC or something? I'm new to all this and the instructions with the HU weren't very clear :S

Will have another look at it in a bit anyway.

Still no luck.. This is really annoying. There were 4 plugs that I took out from the back of my old renault HU. 2 rectangular clips with multiple wires linked to them, a circular plug (looks like an aerial) and the small yellow block.

Of these 4 I plugged the first 2 into the cable that comes seperate in the box and then plugged that cable into the HU.
I plugged the circular socket into a circular cable that was attached to the HU.
The yellow block didn't fit anywhere as mentioned above.

Is this all I need to do or am I supposed to plug all those cables with clear rubber hood-things on into somewhere? If so where as I can't see anywhere to plug them into!

Realised I hadn't plugged the red and yellow rubber cable things into the rubber socket for them but this has made no difference either.
Faulty HU? I've spent 3 hours moving wires and nothing seems to work.

Swap the red and yellow wires round, Renault use a different wiring system to most cars.

The only way you will get all the wires into the slot is by taking the top off the dash.

The yellow plug will not fit on your alpine unit, its for the column controls and display, you will need an adaptor kit for that to work

When you say swap them do you mean plug the red cable into the yellow one and vice-versa~?
Just given this a try and it didn't work.

Only other thing I think you might've meant is actually swap the wires from the clip. How do I get the wires out of the clip to do this if this is the case?

Thanks~

Just swap at the cables. red to yellow and yellow to red.

Have you got a test light or a multimeter, as it sounds like you have popped a fuse somewhere, you need to check or you may never find it.

Nope aint got either of em :/
Guess I might as well pay to have it fitted then and hopefully they'll find the problem/fuse or w/e it is.
How annoying, wanted to give it a blast before I leave for work in an hour but guess that's not gonna happen.
Ah well cheers for the help guys.

Well your only going to be able to look for blown fuses, rather than test for supply.
Look at the fuse box at the end of the dash and the line fuses on the set, you might spot a blown one.

Umm silly question but where is the fuse box? Rushing off to work now so haven't got time to look but is it to the right of the steering wheel near the door?

Its on the end of the dashboard, open the passenger door and its under the cover.

Maybe you have mixed up the retangular clips??

Try swapping them over??

I have the same Headunit but my Amp wont work through it...

Got it going before but never since :(

You cant mix them up, they have a keyway to stop you putting them in the wrong place.

Stupid question but you are turning the ignition to the accessory position aren't you? It won't work until you do.

Back from work now~
Guess I'll have a look at the fuses tomorrow then. Is there anything in particular I'm looking for? Will it look different to the rest or something?

Yea I tried ignition in every possible position :(

Aha found the buggers! One of the big ones (20) and one of the small ones (15) had blown.
Couple more questions now :D

1) Where do I get new ones from without going to a Renault dealer as it's too far away :p. Would my local hardware shop that sells electrics sell them?
2) How can I make sure they don't blow again when I come to put it in?

Thanks!

Love you guys!! Found one of the fuses in my spares and nicked the other from my mums Scenic :)
It worked a treat. Now I can go ahead and order some components for the front :)
Thanks for all your help!

Oh and my car was having trouble idling before but since changing the fuses it idles with no problems o.0
Could one of these blown fuses have been related to that?

Yep, sounds like you took the main auxiliary fuse out, (the 20a one) that would stop all sorts of things working.

Moral of the story.....disconnect the battery before you start work, if your not sure what you are doing. ;)
