need legal advice :-(

if no one read my postabout chipsaway ruining my williams, to cut a long story short a guy came to fix stone chips and a small dent on my williams,he made a total arse of it, used wrong colour, my paintwork has big purple blobs over it he melted my williams badge at the back, the dent is 10 times worse all in all its in tatters, anyways after numerous phone calls to head office and the guy who did it, it ends up the only option i have is to let him come and try and repair the damage he has done or get my 130 quid back, i am not willing to do any of these it has been quoted 400-500 pounds worth of damage so taking my 130 would be pointless, and 2nd there is no way i am letting this guy near it again to cause more damage, i will not be happy until this is fixed by a professional bodyshop!

what can i do? i am making an appointment with my solicitor 2morrow to get some advice on what to do next.

if anyone can help or know what might come out of all of this i would appreciate it alot, i cant even bear to look at my car the now it was like brand new 3 weeks ago when i bought it, its such a shame to see it like this

Thats terrible, I hope you get it sorted.

A few weeks back I kerbed a wheel and called chipsaway. They gave me the number of my local agent. I called about 10.30 in the morning and think I woke him up. When I asked when he could do it he replied "Dunno mate, maybe Wednesday". At that point I decided not to risk it. I took it somewhere and watched it get done.

Citizens advice are always worth a call.

tony, quite simple mate, get into killie and go to court, obtain papers for a small claims summons, go get quote from 2 decent bodyshops and get papers processed, get them served on this muppet, he has no defence and you are being reasonable in now allowing him to cause any further damage, if you need any help let me know as my old boy works in law and i work insurance company dealing with liability claims.

correct me if im wrong here.....but im sure you must give them (chipsaway) the oppertunity to put things right........you could try asking head office if they could get someone else to do the work.....perhaps someone with more experince !

cheers for that mate, ill defo do that, it looks like my only option,i am severly gutted about all this, what do you think are the chances of me gettin some justice out of this?

Photos - get lots of photos before and after. Also as Alymac says get the expert bodyshops to give they opinion, document EVERYTHING!

I had a similar problem in my fiesta zetec S, went it for the spoiler to be resprayed (due to the orional paint reacting with the plastic and bubbling). Went back to get it the next day and theres a big dent in the door like another door had been opened into it.

Nowt I could do though as had no proof it was done there (but if f**king was!!!)

grrrr

good luck, nail the t**sers

pretty good, they have caused damage to your property so you have suffered a financial loss, you are within your rights to not allow the same person who damaged your car to work on it again, what i would say is go to cab or your solicitor, mention small claims summons, get two quotes and some pics of the damage for the court papers and see what happens

The work must be of a satisfactory standard and fit for the purpose it was intended, I imagine (at least thats what actual physical items you can buy and hold in your hand must be.)

Give them a chance to fix it - though I dont know how theyre going to fix a melted badge... Ask for a Head Office guy to come down and supervise and if they f*ck it up even more then take the b*stards to court. (Can you get no-win, no-fee for this?)

Bad luck mate, everyone hates getting stung by morons...

You could always name and shame in the local press! ;)

the head office are telling me that it has to be the same guy who done it, this guy is saying all he is legally obliged to do is refund me or come and fix it, if you saw what hes done i can assure you you would not let him touch it again, if it was just say the badge he damaged and everything else was fine then fair doos i would let him have a go, but every bit of the car he has put his hands on is a total mess. no one can expect me to let him near it, and even if i did i would end up decking the guy when he came to my house which wouldnt help matters

cheers for the help

Phone your local trading standards and explain what has happened. They will advise you on the correct way to proceed. Done it myself twice in the last 6 months and cant recommend them enough. Hope you get it sorted. Theres no way Id let that monkey lose on my car for a second time if he was no competant enough to do it right first time.

Oh, and in the words of many a japanese tourist...

"Photo! Photo! Photo!"

;)

Perhaps a nice little video of him at work would be a good idea too? To go with your extensive collection of previously collected photographic evidence.

While I think about it, did anyone see*cough* WATCHDOG last nite...?

:D

hehe, ill have to try all these ideas, cab and trading standards etc, thanks alot, hope my williams is ship shape in the end up

Talking about paintwork etc, I must mention what happened to my neighbours Type R Civic. Someone hit the back of it last week, with not much damage and on Monday afternoon a guy from the garage came to my neighbours house with a new, already painted rear bumper which he fitted in no time at all. Apparently Honda replacement body parts are ordered by quoting the paint code so it will match the rest of the bodywork perfectly.

Good one! Do Renault do this?

i doubt if renualt do that....they are french !!!...he he he......that must be on cars under a certian age GirlRacer........coz after a while all paints fade & then you have to colour match.......hence why body shops have mixing schemes !!

theres a few colours on our mixing scheme that have upto 12 different shades !!!...one of the worst colours to match is red !!!
